How did he do it? Given a promise he didn't see realized for 25 years. I'm sure I would have started second guessing it after a week. I'm sure I would have gotten my own idea and asked God to bless it. I can also see me having one of those *proud* moments Tegan tends to have when he doesn't get what he wants when he wants it. You know, the throw yourself down in a screaming fit moments. (yes, *proud* was used sarcastically here!) Or, if I were in his shoes, I can imagine the ease of slowly giving up believing I no longer have purpose at such an old age.
Abraham is said to have believed in hope against hope that God would provide him a son. He was seventy five when the promise came. One hundred when it was fulfilled. Without becoming weak in faith he comtemplated his own body, now as good as dead...yet with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able to perform. How hard it is to wait. I love this song by John Waller. The spirit of worship and growing belief in a God who does what is best when it is best encourages my weak heart and inspires me to believe.
I don't know what you face or what you've been promised. But I do know the God behind it never breaks His word. He never forgets His word. And works to fulfill it in His time. Keep believing!

Blessings in your waiting!
