Whisper Mountain Staff has been getting a hoot out of everyone's creativity in the "finish the sentence" game! Thank you to everyone who left a comment here, on facebook, instagram or email! We loved that you joined in the fun! (I'm sorry for those who couldn't leave a comment here. I'm not sure why there was a problem. I'm looking into it!)
Without further ado, our winner will be receiving one of our new zip hoodies. After kindly deliberating (& laughing), the staff unanimously agreed the following entry was the winner. Though much more than a sentence long, this entry pretty much is the real deal! If you've never enjoyed the company of local Robbinsvillians, this will give you a good idea of a real life conversation! The culture of Robbinsville is unique, but I have found the people here to be genuine and beautiful! (I grabbed a couple pics from his fb)
If you know Rance Shuler you know he's an encouraging, on fire for Jesus, long-winded feller! When he and Shaun get together, you're in for the long haul! His winning entry:
My name is LeRoy and I was standing over yonder by
that thar tree when all of a sudden I heard my ol blue tick ah barkin
way over yonder far off! Bessy is er name and der was no doubt in my
mind she was hot on the trail of a b'ar! The louder Bessy yelped da
harder my heart began to beat! Her voice was ah echoeing through them
hollers and over them ridges! Pertiest thing ye ever heard!
Then my
huntin' buddy Jethro came on the radio and he was sure ah hollerin and
ah yelpin' at me one more site! Funny thing was it sounded like he said
"Leroy get Freddy! I think that car is comin yur way!" Well one thing
was fer sure I didnt have a clue who Freddy was and I sure culdnt
figure out how a car was a comin through the woods! I told him I culdnt
make out nery a thing he was ah hollerin about so I asked em to speak
plain fer cryin out loud! Then Jethro came back on the radio and said
"Not Freddy and not ah car you dingle berry! I said Leroy get reeedy I
think that b'ar is ah runnin' your way! He just past through Obadiah
Gap!" Oh son let me tell yuns what, I got fard up!
Sure enuff I heerd
sticks ah breakin and limbs ah snappin and ol Bessy ah barkin and next
thing I knew I was staring that ol black b'ar in the face! It was
runnin right up the holler at me! I worked a shell into my ol 30.06
rifle handed down to me by my Pappy, asked the good Lord above to help
aim properly, and then I began to sling the led at the ol b'ar!!! Let
me tell you I burned his hide up and he hit the ground and ol Bessy come
a runnin and jumped on top him barkin like crazy!! Yes sir that was a
blessing fer sure of a b'ar hunt!!!
My good ol wife Jenni is makin b'ar
