The play on words is exactly Shaun's cup of tea! Fall In Nature. When he suggested this be our theme for October here on the blog, I immediately shunned the idea. Who wants to talk about our fallen selves? What a downer. A killjoy. I, for one, spend a good amount of time trying to escape the disaster of me on a daily basis. No, let's think of something else.
But as I allowed the idea to simmer a little, as is my way, I realized the brilliance of his idea. As Christians, our struggle between the flesh and the spirit is a real, ongoing, unrelenting battle. We need encouragement to keep pulling toward the Spirit. To keep swimming in grace while drowning in our weaknesses. To keep choosing life in Jesus and letting go of the death we are acquainted with.
Yes. Fall In Nature. The beauty of the change of seasons being a perfect picture of the beauty of Christ's work in us as we die to ourselves and live for Him! The glory of His life filling us, changing us, purposing us.
Happy October, friends!
